The year is 2020.

The year New Year resolutions turned out to be nothing but spoken words

The year Vision 2020 became Mission Improbable

It was the year a Parasite infested the Oscars

And South Korea took its place as King of Hollywood

It was the year Weinstened was used in a sentence for the first time

And Harvey Weinstein was sentenced for sex crimes

It was the year Britain finally made a dramatic exit

And Harry & Meghan took the back seat instead of the throne

It was the year Kobe and Gianna took one last bow

The year The Donald trumped the system

It was the year the Australian bush fires went on a rampage. Again

And Corona beer brewed more negativity than patronage

It was the year Work From Home came to mean more work

And remote work controlled every phase of the economy

It was the year Obesere gave us a reason to laugh

The year Egungun be careful became a jam

And the whole world entered express

It was the year Tik-Tok helped people pass the time. Tik Tok, Tik Tok 🕐

And Zoom sped past Google Meet, Skype and Microsoft Teams

It was the year we wore face masks to conceal our airways

The year staying away was the best way to stay alive

And washing your hands made you a hero...really!

It was the year the world stood for George Floyd

And #BlackLivesMatter walked for all lives everywhere

It was the year Jada got entangled with an August visitor

The year the FBI put Hushpuppi on a leash

And Bobrisky attended a party...as a guy. What?! 😱

It was the year Hollywood became Stally-wood

And released movies nobody wanted instead

It was the year we missed the big screen

And Netflix aired every flick on the small screen

It was the year the Acting NDDC MD, Dr. Pondei 'collapsed' on live TV

And joined Fayose, Melaye, and Metuh in the Actors Guild Of Nigeria

But, 2020 was also the year we learnt to appreciate the little things

And we decided to take nothing for granted

It was the year we missed even our frenemies

And couldn't wait to see haters eye us in scorn

It was the year we missed the drink at the bar, the house parties and the owambes

And found succour in the simplest touch, fist bump or physical contact

It was the year we learnt to stay in touch, even when we were out of touch

And it was the year Grillo finally started a blog. 🤗
